Buffalo Marine Service, Inc. of Houston has announced the recent christening of its newest and one of its greenest towboats, the MV San Brooklyn.
The vessel has been constructed using a number of new technologies to reduce fuel consumption and its impact on the environment.
"The M/V San Brooklyn's streamlined hull design, hydrodynamic propeller system and low-emissions engines continues Buffalo Marine’s tradition of offerings fuel suppliers from throughout the region with the most efficient bunker service possible," commented Buffalo Marine.
The vessel has also been equipped with a state-of-the-art propulsion system, a mass flow meter tracking suite, and has been built with enhanced vessel construction materials to reduce noise and vibration in order to mitigate crew fatigue.
Buffalo added that the vessel is one of the first towboats in the US to be delivered with a US Coast Guard-issued towing vessel inspection sticker in advance of the forthcoming towing vessel inspection regulations.
The proposed rule is expected to require all towing companies to implement safety management systems (SMS), one of the National Transportation Safety Board’s most wanted transportation safety improvements.
"This dedication to exceeding expectations has positioned Buffalo Marine as the number one bunker company in the Gulf Coast," Buffalo commented.
