Bunker Alerts

To our valued customers and friends:

Given the long term downward trend of fuel costs, Buffalo Marine Service has re-evaluated its existing fuel surcharge price structure. The consistent drop in diesel fuel in the region since last fall necessitates a further reduction from the current 10% level to 5%.  We hope that this 50% reduction in our fuel surcharge will assist you in more effectively managing your long term costs.

Accordingly, effective March 1, 2009 the posted fuel surcharge will be 5%.

Best regards,

To our valued customers and friends:

Over the last decade, the use of e-mail and various forms of electronic communications has permitted Buffalo Marine Service (BMS) to be more responsive to your bunker needs. While this means of communications allows for greater flexibility with respect to unanticipated order changes, it can also result in conflicting order information.

Therefore, in an effort to guard against inaccurate delivery information, any and all changes to previously-confirmed final orders -with particular emphasis on quantitymust be verbally confirmed with BI\IIS dispatch personnel. This verbal confirmation will permit BMS to verify the change and immediately notify the appropriate BMS bunker crew. In some instances this may result in the assignment of another bunker barge to the particular order.

This practice will assist BIVIS in its daily confirmation of the number of bunker jobs from a
respective supplier with the name of the ship and its proposed delivery time. Over the
years we have found that this daily reconciliation safeguards against delivery delays and
overlooked jobs.

We understand that this may require additional effort on your part; however, it is BMS's goal to deliver the quantity ordered at the time and location desired.

Buffalo Marine issues bunker statement
17th December 2009 22:22 GMT

Buffalo Marine prides itself on being associated with 'reputable fuel suppliers'.
Buffalo Marine has issued a statement stating that its suppliers "are not associated with recent bunker fuel contamination problems" in Houston. Earlier this week DNV Petroleum Services (DNVPS) issued a bunker fuel alert saying it had received reports of engine problems from several ships after they used bunker fuel lifted at Houston and surrounding ports. It singled out deliveries made by one supplier between October 12 and October 23 this year.
"In the wake of this revelation, Buffalo Marine has verified that none of the suppliers it provides transportation for were identified as the culprit," Buffalo Marine said in a statement sent to Bunkerworld.
"As the region's premier bunker delivery company, we work closely with our trusted suppliers to ensure that the fuel we deliver is what was ordered.
"Indeed, Buffalo Marine is very fortunate to be associated with reputable and reliable fuel suppliers," it added.
Buffalo Marine Services, Houston, Texas, is a specialist in bunkering vessels on the Texas and Louisiana coasts.
